RED RIBBON WEEK
Valentine Makes the Right Start to a Bright Future
Monday, October 22 Be Bright, Eat Right!
Help jump start the week by eating right and showing that you are making healthy food choices. Bring a fruit or veggie to school instead of a sugary snack. Replace the sugary juice or soda for a healthier beverage option, like water or milk.
Tuesday, October 23 "Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy... and wise." - Benjamin Franklin
While practicing healthy habits throughout the day, a full night’s rest is essential to a healthy lifestyle. Get ready for picture day tomorrow by going to sleep early tonight!
Wednesday, October 24 Pledge Banner Signing!
Please bring your completed Family Pledge to the Red Ribbon Week table on the Valentine playground during lunch recess. You can sign your name on the Red Ribbon Week banner to show that you have made a pledge to make healthy choices. All participants will receive a prize!
Thursday, October 25 Commit to be Fit!
Wear your favorite sports team jersey or t-shirt to show your support of a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise.
Friday, October 26 Wear Red Day & BMX “Wheels of Freestyle” Assembly!
To celebrate Red Ribbon Week, wear as much RED as possible! Red is the symbolic color of a healthy lifestyle. Students are encouraged to wear red to show they have taken the pledge to be healthy, which includes a lifestyle of regular exercise and nutritional food choices.
The BMX riders of "Wheels of Freestyle" will perform amazing high-energy stunts and incredible ground tricks to promote a healthy lifestyle. Students will be inspired to stay active, while eating healthy and staying focused.
Red Ribbon Week is sponsored by Partnership for Awareness (PfA) with the support of Valentine PTA.For more information about PfA, please visit www.partnershipforawareness.org
