This year, Valentine Elementary will celebrate the 2014 Lunar New Year and "The Year of the Horse" on Friday, January 31st at 10:30am on the campus blacktop. Everyone is welcome! This cultural event will expose students, staff and the community to many aspects of Asian culture. Our own Valentine students (K thru 5th) will perform a Chinese Folk dance, karate demonstration and the dragon dance at both the Huntington School event on January 25th at 9am and at Valentine School on the January 31st at 10:30am. The children are also learning and will sing beautiful songs in Chinese, thanks to our wonderful music specialist, Mrs. Reeve Owens!
The campus will be decorated with lion heads and lanterns, and the Little Theater will showcase Chinese artwork by the 5th graders. An Asian-style lunch will be provided for Valentine staff and VIPs of the community immediately after the program on the 31st. In addition, all Valentine students will make a special craft to take home and learn Kung Fu through an instructor during PE on Thursday, January 30th.
